Final steps to the defence
When you have finished your dissertation, it is time to prepare for the defence procedure.
When you have completed your research and your dissertation is (nearly) finished, the final phase of the PhD track begins. This phase involves a number of formal steps that must be completed carefully and in the correct order. Both you and your supervisor(s) are responsible for completing the required actions during this process. The Graduate School Office can assist with practical questions and procedural matters.
All formal requirements are described in the Leiden University PhD Regulations, which serve as the authoritative framework for this phase. In the event of discrepancies, the PhD Regulations always take precedence.
