On Wednesday 24 January 2024, the Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies (Leiden University) and the University of Amsterdam Institute for Information Law organize a workshop on Disinformation and Human Rights in Context. This workshop, organized with the support of the Netherlands Network for Human Rights Research, brings together speakers from different (academic) backgrounds to discuss the dynamic interaction between human rights and disinformation. How do emerging technologies change the media landscape and how does this impact fundamental rights? Which groups are disproportionately affected by online hate speech and how does this unfold in times of armed conflict? How has disinformation infiltrated scientific discussions on climate change, public health policy and academic freedom? And one of the most pressing issues across the board: how do we identify and evidence disinformation and the impact it has on the enjoyment of our rights?

To answer these questions, the program consist of three panels and plenty of room for discussion.
