Study
Expand your knowledge, gain international experience, and explore global challenges. From summer schools and online courses to virtual exchanges, Leiden University students at all levels (bachelor’s and master’s students, and PhD candidates) can participate in a range of learning opportunities.
Summer schools
Learn from experts while connecting with peers from across Europe. Take part in hands-on workshops and get inspired by new perspectives — all while discovering a new city and university. Many summer schools offer funding or subsidies, making it easier for you to participate.
Calls to join summer schools often open in early spring.
In 2026, three summer schools will take place at University College Dublin from 15-19 June, on the topics of One Health, Sustainability and Data Science & AI. There will also be a Future Materials summer school in Bologna (date TBC).
Read more about summer schools on the Una Europa website.
Micro-credential in Sustainability
Complete all five online courses to earn 10 ECTS, issued by the University of Helsinki on behalf of Una Europa. You can also complete four additional courses covering the environmental, economic, and social aspects of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Free to all students studying at Una Europa universities.
AI in Society course
This multidisciplinary online course will help you to engage critically with the basics of AI and its related ethical issues. It looks at the impact of AI on different sectors of society, and how the societal impact and relevant values can be taken into account in design, implementation, and deployment of AI.
Virtual Sustainability Exchange
Increase your environmental awareness, knowledge of the green transition and skills in sustainable transformation. Work with students from across Europe and Africa, and do all this with no travel required – thanks to the Una Europa Virtual Exchanges for Sustainability programme. There are yearly calls to join the UnaVEx exchange programme, normally in September.
