Maak kennis met Security Studies

Terrorisme, cybercriminaliteit, natuurrampen en andere vraagstukken hebben dagelijks invloed op de veiligheid van miljoenen mensen. In de bacheloropleiding Security Studies leer je deze veiligheidsuitdagingen te begrijpen door ze te bestuderen in hun politieke, historische en maatschappelijke context. Daarnaast onderzoek je hoe overheden, instellingen en de media invloed uitoefenen op de manier waarop met deze vraagstukken wordt omgegaan. De opleiding helpt je een academisch perspectief te ontwikkelen en de vaardigheden om kritisch na te denken over complexe veiligheidsproblemen.

Tijdens de Proefstudeerdag krijg je waardevol inzicht in de opleiding. Je volgt een hoorcollege en een skills lab, ontmoet studenten en docenten, en ervaart hoe het is om te studeren aan de Universiteit Leiden in Den Haag.

The programme is for prospective students and parents/ guides. 

Time	Activity
12:30– 13:00 hrs.	Arrival and Registration Find your way to our Campus Wijnhaven in the city centre of The Hague, The Netherlands and make sure to register at the registration desk.
13:00 - 13.15 hrs.	Learn more about the bachelor's during a programme introduction. Hear about student life from a student ambassador, sharing their personal experiences.
13.15 - 14.45	Attend a plenary lecture to experience what a lecture in the programme is like.   This part of the programme is for prospective students and parents/ guides.
14:45 – 15:00 hrs	Break
15:00– 16:00 hrs	For students only: Mini skills lab In this small scale interactive session, we will focus on one of the key skills taught during skills labs, which is being able to have an academic discussion. We will introduce you to a number of tools to help you think critically and build strong academic argumentation. We will put these skills to practice through an interactive discussion held at the end of the workshop on a current security case study.
15:00 - 16:00 hrs	For Parents: Q&A Parents can ask all their questions.
16:00 - 16:15 hrs	Plenary closing for the programme
16:15 -17.00 hrs	Asking your last questions at the stand or in the room

For whom?

• Students from 4th, 5th, and 6th year of pre-university education (vwo) who may have already attended an Open Day, or or were unable to attend and/or wish to further explore the bachelor's programme in Security Studies.
• Students who are not yet fully certain about their study choice or are still undecided between two or three programmes and want to make a decision.
