Sign up

During this event, you will attend a lecture from the course Vital Interests, taught by Professor Dennis Broeders and Dr Lydie Cabane. This will give you a clear impression of whether the programme matches your interests and if it could be the right choice for you.

One of our student ambassadors will welcome you at our Wijnhaven building and share first-hand insights about the programme and studying in The Hague. You will also have plenty of opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

Get a taste of Security Studies, take part in the Student for a Day event!

If you decide to join this Student for a Day event, you will:

  • attend the lecture 'Pandemics II' of the course 'Vital interests'
  • meet current students;
  • have the chance to ask all your questions about this programme and student life;
  • get a tour of the faculty building.

It’s an ideal opportunity to get to know the BSc Security Studies even better.

About the course 'Vital interests'

In this Bachelor programme, we have defined security and safety broadly as relating to protection from harm and threats against acquired values. This is a very broad and general definition. It leaves unspecified what ‘protection’ consists of, which ‘harms’ we are speaking of, and which ‘acquired values’ are deemed worthy of protection. It is this latter point – the key assets, interests or values that we choose to protect (over others) that are at the heart of this course. We label them as vital interests in society. The course Vital interests is all about identification, prioritisation and decision making about vital interests in contemporary societies. Read more
