Juan Pablo Bascur is promovendus en lid van de onderzoeksgroep Quantitative Science Studies van het Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS). Daarnaast is hij werkzaam als onderwijs- en onderzoeksmedewerker bij het Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science.

Juan Pablo Bascur is promovendus en lid van de onderzoeksgroep Quantitative Science Studies van het Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS). Zijn onderzoek richt zich op het machinaal leren en de natuurlijke taalverwerking van papers om het zoeken naar literatuur te verbeteren.
Juan Pablo behaalde zijn M.Sc in Biochemie aan de Andrés Bello National University (UNAB) in Chili. Hij is onderzoeker bij het Centrum voor Bio-informatica en Integratieve Biologie (CBIB) van de UNAB. Ook is Juan Pablo onderzoeker geweest bij een bedrijf op het gebied van kunstmatige intelligentie. Hij is sinds september 2018 werkzaam bij het CWTS onder begeleiding van Ludo Waltman en Nees Jan van Eck.
