Wouter Jong (1972) is Assistant Professor, combining a part-time academic role with full-time work as a crisis management practitioner. His research and teaching focus on crisis communication and public leadership. Alongside his academic work, he has worked closely with Dutch mayors and gained operational experience as a coordinator at an emergency dispatch center. He has also contributed to crisis management projects and trainings in Sint Maarten, Somalia, Lebanon, and Jordan. He is a lecturer in Crisis Communication at the Institute of Security and Global Affairs at Leiden University since 2018.

Wouter Jong (1972) got his PhD at Tilburg University in 2019. In his PhD, he did a research on leadership roles of mayors in times of crisis. On behalf of VNG International he is involved in rebuilding projects and disaster management projects at Sint Maarten and the Middle-East.
He is a crisis management and crisis communication consultant. He is a lecturer in Crisis Communication at the Institute of Security and Global Affairs at Leiden University since 2018.
