Wout Broekema is Assistant Professor of Crisis Governance at Leiden University at the Institute of Security and Global Affairs in The Hague. He is affiliated with the Crisis Research Centre, one of the oldest crisis research centres in Europe. Research Output
Wout Broekema is Assistant Professor of Crisis Governance at Leiden University at the Institute of Security and Global Affairs in The Hague. He is affiliated with the Crisis Research Centre, one of the oldest crisis research centres in Europe. His research focuses on the development and dissemination of knowledge during and after crises, with a specialisation in evaluation and learning. In his PhD research, Wout investigated why public organisations do or do not learn after an incident or crisis. His PhD dissertation was selected as top four best political science dissertation in the Netherlands and Belgium. As a researcher, Wout has been involved in several evaluation studies, including the evaluation of the Safety Regions Act. His work has been published in leading international journals in crisis management and public administration. He teaches the course Learning and Accountability in the master's program Crisis and Security Management.
