Sofia de Jong is affiliated to the Institute of Private Law, Company Law Department as PhD candidate since November 2023. Her empirical legal research focuses on the effectiveness of Dutch company law as an instrument for influencing behaviour to achieve sustainability goals.

Sofia de Jong started her bachelor's degree in Law at Leiden University in 2016. Furthermore, she was admitted to Honours College Law in 2017. She completed her bachelor's degree and the Honours programme in 2020. Following this, Sofia started a masters degree in Civil Law and a masters degree in Company Law (cum laude) at Leiden University. She completed these master degrees in 2023.  

During her studies, Sofia organised LLP meetings for first-year students as a student tutor. Moreover, she worked as a student assistant for the Empirical Legal Studies research group from 2020 to 2023. Sofia has also completed internships at a Dutch and an international law firm. In addition, she completed a research internship at the Company Law Department of Leiden University. Furthermore, she went on an exchange programme to the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Business & Economics at the Università di Bologna.
