I studied molecular sciences in Wageningen from 1997 to 2002. After this I continued with my PhD in the lab of Prof. Dr. A.H.J. Bisseling, where I specialized in quantitative microscopy. I obtained my PhD in 2007 but already started in 2006 at the lab of Prof. G. van Wezel where I have implemented several quantitative microscopy techniques for studying the cell division in Streptomyces coelicolor. In this lab I set up FRET-FLIM studies in bacteria, and have broadened my scope of microscopic interest with electron microscopy (in addition to light microscopy) which we use in our group to study the sub-light resolution structures of Streptomyces.
