Council of Ministers of Curaçao invites Leiden University to present children’s rights research

On 1 November 2023, Professor Ton Liefaard presented research on the rights of undocumented children to the Council of Ministers of Curaçao.

Early November Professor Ton Liefaard, UNICEF Chair in Children’s Rights at Leiden University, gratefully accepted the invitation of the Council of Ministers of Curaçao to present research on the rights of migrant children in Curaçao. This research was published in 2021, authored by Chrisje Sandelowsky-Bosman, Professor Ton Liefaard, Dr Stephanie Rap and Professor Flora Goudappel. It deals extensively with the position of undocumented children in Curaçao from a children’s rights perspective. During his presentation, Professor Liefaard highlighted the value of children’s rights, gave some reflections on the position of undocumented children in Curaçao, and made recommendations for policy reform.
