The Department of Child Law welcomed delegation from Tunisia

On Thursday 17 November 2016 a delegation from the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Social affairs and UNICEF Tunisia paid a visit to Leiden Law School, organised by the International Juvenile Justice Observatory.

In the Faculty room Law, at the Academy building, prof. Ton Liefaard and dr. Stephanie Rap discussed the Dutch juvenile justice system and the possibilities for diversion and alternatives to detention of children. Ms. Kelly Tji from the Foundation 180 was present to inform the group about interventions for children who are placed in a juvenile detention centre.

The visit to Leiden Law School was part of a 3-day study visit to various juvenile justice interventions in the Netherlands, to learn among others about Multi-system therapy, Tools4U and Halt. The mission was led by mrs. Raja Bousssema, magistrate for the ministry of justice office, mr. George Abadjian, child protection officer UNICEF, and mrs. Aida Ghorbel, specialist in child protection UNICEF.
