About us
The Department of Child Law and Health Law is a knowledge centre dedicated to academic research and education for both students and professionals in two fields: child law (and children's rights) and health law.
Education
The Department of Child Law and Health Law offers both bachelor's and master's education in the field of Dutch child law and international children's rights, with a central focus on the position of the child in the law.
The Department of Child Law and Health Law offers two master's programs: the Dutch Master in Child Law and the English-taught Advanced Master in International Children's Rights. Furthermore, the following chairs are established within the department:
- UNICEF Chair in Children’s Rights;
- Chair in Children’s Rights in a Sustainable World;
- Special Chair in Pedagogy and Law;
- Special Chair in Juvenile and Adolescent Crime;
- Special Chair in Conflict Resolution and Legal Protection in Education.
Additionally, the Department of Child Law and Health Law provides postgraduate education in both child law and health law.
Research
The Department of Child Law and Health Law also conducts scientific research in the fields of Dutch child law, international children's rights, and (inter)national health law.
The (assistant) professors and (PhD) researchers of the department are renowned for their specific expertise in areas such as family and child law, child protection, juvenile criminal law and international children's rights, as well as in the areas of drug discovery and development, medical confidentiality and regenerative medicine.
