The comprehensive bachelor’s and master’s programmes at the Leiden University Centre for Linguistics (LUCL) train students to become fully-fledged LLM engineers and analysts – with a foundation in linguistics!

From the Bachelor’s in Linguistics onwards, students at Leiden already learn to work on LLMs. For instance, in the bachelor’s course Large Language Models, they learn to use Python to train and evaluate LLMs.

 

The bachelor’s course Communicative AI teaches students how to apply the pragmatic conditions of human dialogue to LLMs. Machine learning courses are offered at both bachelor’s and master’s levels, and the master’s course Advanced Methods in Deep Learning for Natural Language Processing also teaches students how to review and understand the often complex literature surrounding LLMs.
