Leiden Jewish Studies Network
Since its beginnings, Leiden University has been home to scholars with a broad and diverse expertise in the histories, languages, literatures and material cultures relevant to the study of Jews and Judaism from antiquity to modern times.
To stimulate cooperation and mutual awareness among students, instructors and experts from inside and outside Leiden University, the "Leiden Jewish Studies Association" (LJSA) was created in 2023 with a subsidy from the Faculty of Humanities.
Thanks to the great success of LJSA in 2023 and 2024 and new support from the Leiden University Fund, we can now continue our work and transform LJSA into the Leiden Jewish Studies Network (LJSN). Over the next five years (2025-2030), we will organize teaching events, colloquia, student activities and (guest) lectures to promote cooperation and exchange across the entire spectrum of the "Jewish Experience" though ages and regions.
