The Centre of Political Philosophy is pleased to announce their annual lecture by Rainer Forst, Professor of Political Theory and Philosophy at Goethe University Frankfurt and Director of the Normative Orders Research Centre, is one of the most renowned representatives of Frankfurt School critical theory.
In this lecture, I develop a reflexive conception of political legitimacy. I take the question of political legitimacy to be that of the justification of the exercise of political rule. But what does “justification” normatively imply? What “authority” is appealed to in that context? Unpacking these questions, the lecture develops twelve principles of the rationality of political legitimacy.
All are welcome!
