The Seventh European Congress on World and Global History takes place in The Hague from 29 June to 1 July 2023. Under the main congress theme “Conflict and Inequity, Peace and Justice: Local, Regional and International Perspectives”,  the congress brings together historians working on world and global history. They will discuss causes of conflict and inequity as well as the corollary features of various quests for peace and justice. These causes and quests have shaped the lives of peoples and the development of sociopolitical orders in all historical periods and around the globe. Besides panels addressing the main congress theme, the congress also features a wide array of panels addressing historical relations, transfers, and entanglements between states, peoples, communities, and individuals situated in, or spanning, different regions of the world.

The congress also features a number of special events, including a key note lecture by prof. Giles Scott-Smith, a publishers’ roundtable, a roundtable on multilateralism bringing together academics from across Leiden faculties and practitioners as well as a concluding round table that will reflect on the state of the field as well as how that relates to publishing.
