Plus programme World Teachers Programme

The World Teachers Programme is a specialised track of the master at ICLON Leiden Graduate School of Teaching, geared towards bilingual and international education. As a WTP teacher, you will:

• Complete extra assignments
• Attend tailored workshops on content and language integrated learning (CLIL) and other features of this particular educational context
• Follow most of the master's programme in English
• Spend 3-4 weeks at a school in another country during the International Internship
• Need to master concepts and skills that allow you to help your pupils to learn both the content and the language of your subject.

The WTP only starts in august and candidates will be invited for a WTP intake interview.

Honours education for master's students

Are you a curious and motivated master’s student? The Honours Academy of Leiden University offers various kinds of extracurricular education, ranging from long-running programmes to short-term courses. 

Leiden Leadership Programme (15 EC)

Are you interested in a leadership challenge? Join the Leiden Leadership Programme (LLP). This one-year programme will equip you with the leadership knowledge, insights and skills you need to increase your societal impact. You work on your personal development through trainings, seminars and a practical assignment within an organisation, in which you learn to cooperate intensively with other professionals. With the LLP, you earn 15 EC in addition to your master's degree.

Master Honours Challenges (3-5 EC)

Broaden your horizons with a Master Honours Challenge at Leiden University. In a small-scale, interdisciplinary course, you will tackle a complex issue for society or an organisation.

• Discover your path. Try out new topics, fields, and skills and discover what suits you.
• Gain interdisciplinary experience. Work with other disciplines on complex issues. 
• Broaden your skillset. Pitch for stakeholders, make a podcast, documentary, or exhibit or create your own business. 
• Build a network. Work with motivated students and teachers, as well as real-life partner organisations.

Study abroad

You can include an international experience in your master through tailor-made study plans, which makes it possible to follow part of your programme at a university abroad.

Working as a Teaching Assistant

Would you like to gain even more teaching experience alongside your formal teacher training? As a paid teaching assistant, you can help teach our bachelor’s students, for example by leading tutorials and exercises.

Teaching is also a great way to deepen your own understanding of mathematics. Explaining a concept to someone else often makes you look at it in a different way and helps you see where the key ideas really lie.

As a teaching assistant, you’ll work alongside lecturers and other teaching assistants, giving you the opportunity to develop your communication and teamwork skills even further.
