Application deadlines
Each year, Leiden University College The Hague selects 200 students. Our selection process is divided in two rounds: Early Bird and Regular. Keep reading to find out when they are, and why you should consider applying early.
Two deadlines
Our application system opens on the first of October each year. As such, it is be possible to submit an application for September 2027 from 1 October 2026 onwards. To apply for LUC, you need to submit an application in Studielink and the Leiden University application portal (uSis) no later than the stated deadline. When you submit your application affects when your application will be processed and reviewed; in the Early Bird round or Regular Round.
- Early Bird Application Deadline: 1 December, 2026 (23:59 Dutch time)
- Regular Application Deadline: 15 March, 2026 (23:59 Dutch time)
Why apply early bird?
We encourage you to apply by the early bird deadline if you are able to, because it has a couple of advantages:
- You will hear the outcome of the selection process earlier. You can see the projected timeline in the image on this page.
- If you want to apply for LUC Financial Support, you need to apply for the Early Bird deadline of 1 December 2026.
- In some situations not selected Early Bird applicants can be re-considered for admission in the Regular round.
- Students with non-EU nationality are strongly encouraged to apply by the Early Bird deadline, due to the processing time needed to apply for a visa and/or residence permit.
The final deadline
15 March is the final deadline to apply to LUC. In order to be considered for admission, it is necessary to complete both steps (Studielink and uSis) by midnight, Dutch time, no later than the deadline. Applications submitted in the online application portal (uSis) on 16 March 2027 or later will not be considered for admission.
Please note: after applying for Leiden University College in Studielink, it can take several working days until you get access to Leiden University's application system (uSis). Please make sure you start your application on time to ensure you can submit all required documents no later than the deadline. In order to be considered for admission, it is necessary to complete both steps (Studielink and uSis) by midnight, Dutch time, on the deadline.
