Matching

As we think it is important for you to choose a programme that truly suits you, matching is a compulsory part of your application.

Timeline

First, it is important that you have submitted your application in time via Studielink.

  • You can take the online module between 5 January and 15 August.
  • Once you have completed the matching process, you will be advised whether the programme is a right fit for you.
  • About a week after you have completed the matching process, you will receive an email with instructions what to do next and you can continue with your application.

What is matching?

Matching helps you assess whether our programme’s contents and difficulty level match your interests and abilities.

  • After taking part, you will receive a matching recommendation. This helps you determine whether you have sufficient motivation and study skills to start in September, increasing the likelihood that you are making the right choice.
  • In case you find that this programme is not right for you after all, you will have time to explore alternative options. So do not wait too long to start matching.
  • Matching is not binding: you decide for yourself whether to start a programme.

You will receive your advice by email within 24 hours. Would you like to discuss this advice? Please contact the study adviser.

How to sign up?

After submitting your application request in Studielink, you will receive an email within 10 working days containing login details for our online matching module. Please note that the matching module will only be available from 5 January onwards.

To be safe, check your spam folder. If you cannot find the message there either, please contact the Student Affairs Front Office.

Login problems matching module

Please contact the Student Affairs Front Office (T: +3171-5278011).

Withdrawing from compulsory matching

Have you registered for a programme, but no longer wish to participate? Please cancel your enrolment in time. If you do not do so before the application deadline, your application (and participation for compulsory matching) will remain valid.

No email received about matching

It may take approximately 10 days for your enrolment to be processed. Did you enrol more than 10 days ago? First, check the spam folder of your mailbox to see if the email ended up there. If not, please contact the Student Affairs Front Office (T: +3171-5278011).

According to the administration system, matching is not yet complete

It can take 10 working days for everything to be processed correctly. Did you complete the matching process longer than 10 days ago? If so, please contact us via matching@hum.leidenuniv.nl.

White screens while working on matching

If you see only a white screen while working in the online module, it is best to try a different browser.

Logging in to the online module

If you are having problems logging in to the online module, there is probably something wrong with your account. Please contact the Student Affairs Front Office (T: +3171-5278011).

Until which date is it possible to complete matching?

This is possible until 15 August. After that date, it will unfortunately no longer be possible to use the matching module and you will no longer be able to enrol in our programme.

Based on your own experiences and feedback from the programme, you can hopefully make a well-informed and final decision about your study choice after the matching process.
