Mosaic 2.0

Mosaic 2.0 is a national PhD scholarship programme that encourages the participation of graduates with a migration background in academic research.

With this scholarship, the Dutch Research Council (NWO) aims to encourage the entry of graduates with a migration background into Dutch academia and to help build a more inclusive research environment, making their scientific potential more visible through a supportive network. It is science-wide, so any research topic can qualify.

Who can take part?

The programme is aimed at graduates with a migration background from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Turkey, groups that remain underrepresented in Dutch academia. Several Leiden PhD candidates have received Mosaic scholarships.

How to apply

Applications are made to NWO through a two-stage procedure, with a pre-proposal followed by a full proposal for those invited to continue. See NWO's programme page for the current round, deadlines and conditions.
