Samenvatting:
The objective of this thesis was the development and biological investigation of three drug delivery systems for the treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC). The feasibility of therapy based on drug delivery systems targeted at tumor cells was studied, thus reducing drug resistance and side effects of existing drugs on the market. New treatments were formulated and evaluated for anti-inflammatory and antitumor activity in in vitro and in vivo models. The results showed that treatment with NPs decreased inflammation and had antioxidant properties, decreases the size of tumors, and potentiated the antitumor activity of chemotherapeutic agents. These promising data will significantly contribute to the progress of cancer research. In the clinic, nanomedicine-based therapy is closely linked to improving patient prognosis, which is an important research program. This work being has great importance in the field of colorectal cancer therapy.
