Marret Noordewier is universitair docent bij de sectie Sociale, Economische en Organisatiepsychologie van het Instituut Psychologie. Ook is ze Hoofd Onderzoek bij het Kenniscentrum Psychologie en Economisch Gedrag (KCPEG) en lid van de Instituutsraad.

Onderzoek naar emoties en onzekerheid
In haar onderzoek bestudeert Noordewier emotionele processen in situaties die onverwacht, onbekend of lastig te begrijpen zijn. Ze bestudeert de emoties die bij deze situaties horen (bv. verrassing, nieuwsgierigheid, verwarring) en gerelateerde concepten, zoals onzekerheid en controlegebrek. Andere onderzoeksinteresses zijn sociale uitsluiting, financiële stress en duurzaam gedrag.
Met haar onderzoek wil ze een bijdrage leveren aan de vraag wanneer mensen positief zijn over het onbekende en betrokken willen blijven bij bijvoorbeeld (technologische) innovatie en complexe informatie, of wanneer dingen anders uitpakken dan verwacht.
Bij het Kenniscentrum Psychologie en Economisch Gedrag (KCPEG) coördineert Noordewier het onderzoek dat door het KCPEG wordt geïnitieerd.

Marret Noordewier studeerde af in de Sociale Psychologie aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. Daarna werkte ze als onderzoeker in Groningen, voordat ze naar Tilburg University verhuisde om te werken in de Sociale Psychologie en Communicatie- en Informatiewetenschappen.
Momenteel werkt ze als universitair docent Sociale, Economische en Organisatiepsychologie en als Hoofd Onderzoek bij het Kenniscentrum Psychologie en Economisch Gedrag (KCPEG).
