Gerard van de Bruinhorst's werk als informatiespecialist richt zich op het faciliteren van toegang tot African Studies-bronnen en het voldoen aan de informatiebehoeften van ASCL-bibliotheekgebruikers. Hij is verantwoordelijk voor het acquisitiebeleid en de collectieontwikkeling. Zijn specifieke taken omvatten onderwerpsindexering, de verwerking van giften en de evaluatie en selectie van digitale bronnen.
