Trillion Surya Lioe acquired his BSc degree in biological sciences from Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University (Suzhou, China), where he conducted his final project on the characterization of a glycosyl hydrolase from Mycobacterium smegmatis. He attained a scholarship for his MRes (Master’s in Research) degree in molecular biology from the same university and graduated cum laude. His master’s project involved the characterization of a mycobacterial dipeptidyl peptidase, with an emphasis on screening for potential inhibitors as a potential means of therapy. In 2023, he started his PhD tenure in the biophysical structural chemistry (BSC) department under Dr. Sebastian Geibel; working on the functional and structural characterization of membrane (associated) proteins from pathogenic bacteria to uncover alternative/new drug targets to treat bacterial infections and associated diseases.
