Dr Marijke Kooijman is a postdoctoral researcher specialised in official documents, imperial letters, Church politics, and written diplomacy during Late Antiquity. She received her PhD at Ghent University in March 2025, on the dissertation entitled 'Deciding on Chalcedon. The Letter Collections of Bishop Leo and Emperor Marcian, AD 448-457', supervised by Prof. Dr Lieve Van Hoof. Currently, she works on the fictive official documents in the Historia Augusta as part of the NWO project 'Roman Fake News? Documentary Fictions in the Roman Empire' (PI: Dr Rens Tacoma).
