Kavya Chowdhry is a PhD Candidate in the Van Vollenhoven Institute for Law, Governance, and Society in the DigiFood Project. She holds an MSc in Nature, Society and Environmental Governance from the University of Oxford and an MA in development from Azim Premji University, India. 

Prior to joining the VVI, she worked with civil society organisations focused on the right to food, agroecology and climate justice. Her research focused specifically on corporate control and new technologies in food systems.  

Her current research examines what forms of data governance and technological innovation can support the interests of small-scale food producers in just, ecological, and equitable manner.
