Josette Daemen is a PhD candidate at the Institute of Political Science.
Josette Daemen is a PhD candidate at the Institute of Political Science in Leiden. Previously she obtained a BSc and MSc degree in political science from the same institute. Afterwards she studied political theory at the University of Oxford, where she obtained an MPhil title with a thesis about the idea of a basic income viewed from the perspective of luck egalitarian theory.
For her doctoral research she explores how security relates to core ethical values such as well-being, freedom, and equality. Her academic interests lie in the field of political philosophy more generally, with a special interest in how values inform Dutch politics.
