Short CV
Prof. Jasper Knoester studied Theoretical Physics at Utrecht University from 1977 to 1983. He completed his PhD in Theoretical Physics on 1 June 1987, also at Utrecht University. After his PhD, he moved to the United States where he did a postdoc at the University of Rochester.
In 1989, he returned to the Netherlands to do research at the University of Groningen. In 1993, he became Professor of the Theory of Condensed Matter. From 2003 to 2009, he took on the role of scientific director for the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials in Groningen. And from 2010 to 2021, he was Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Groningen. As of January 2022, he is dean of the Faculty of Science in Leiden.
