Els Kindt is since september 2016 a visiting Associate Professor and Researcher at eLaw - Center for Law and Digital Technologies.
Els Kindt obtained a Ph.D in law from KU Leuven Belgium on the topic of data protection aspects of biometric technologies. She teaches European Data Protection Law en Electronic Contracts at KU Leuven Campus Brussel and is a senior researcher at Citip, KU Leuven. She is also a lawyer at the Brussels Bar.
Research activities and interests
Els Kindt has been and is involved in various research projects, mainly funded by the EU Commission. Her area of research covers various domains including identity management, automated border control, biometrics and recently also new technologies for disaster management. She is also a (replacing) Member of the Belgian Privacy Commission at the National Registry Committee.
