Profiling area
Cathalijne van der Plas is Professor of Private International Law at Leiden University. After completing her dissertation on the limits of the judicial function and Private International Law at Radboud University in 2005, she entered the legal profession. After a number of years as a full-time lawyer, she started combining her practice with teaching at the University of Amsterdam in 2007. Since 2020, she has been a partner in the law firm JahaeRaymakers. There she conducts an international practice revolving around Private International Law.
Cathalijne van der Plas is also a member of the General Board of the Royal Netherlands Society of International Law (KNIVR) and is on the editorial board of the journal Nederlands Internationaal Privaatrecht (NIPR). She is a Fellow of The International Academy of Financial Crime Litigators and co-chair of the Asset Tracing & Recovery Chamber of the Institute for Financial Crime.
