Annelies van Vark works as senior advisor for the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee (RNLM), a police organisation with military status within the Ministry of Defence. In her work she focuses on foresight analysis and strategy.

In her research she studies the (declining) stability of liberal democracy in Western Europe and the possible role of the armed forces in fostering stability.

She studied Political Science and Law and worked in the past for the Immigration and Naturalisation Service, the Christian-Democratic Party and the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations.
