Dr. Ali Shobeiri is an Assistant Professor at the Leiden University Centre for the Arts in Society.
Previously I researched into the concept place at the crossed of photography theories, human geography and continental philosophy, culminating in what I called “the geophilosophy of photography”. My current research, however, deals with the visual manifestations of psychosomatic disorders through the lens of phenomenology, image studies, and psychology, aspiring to develop a methodological/theoretical framework that can shed light on this murky area of study.
