From the smallest scales of quantum physics to the largest structures in the universe: for hundreds of years, research into fundamental questions about our universe in Leiden has gone hand in hand with manufacturing the instruments required for this work.

From cryogenic set-ups for quantum research at extremely low temperatures to advanced spectrographs for telescopes. And from algorithms for a future quantum computer to large-scale cosmic simulations.

In this way, we push the boundaries of both our knowledge and technology.
