International Institute of Air and Space Law hosts successful double book launch
The International Institute of Air and Space Law hosted a book launch event at Leiden Law School on 20 March 2025, featuring the launch of two important publications in the field of air and space law.

Tanja Masson-Zwaan, Assistant Professor in Space Law, presented the fifth edition of her book 'Introduction to Space Law' (Wolters Kluwer, 2025), co-authored with Mahulena Hofmann. The book provides a comprehensive overview of the legal aspects of current and emerging space activities, serving as an essential introductory resource to the broad space law literature. This latest edition reflects the most recent developments in space law, steered by new space activities and the increasing commercialisation of the space sector.
The event also celebrated the release of 'International Aviation Law: Regulations in Three Dimensions' (Springer, 2024), the first edition of a new work by Attila Sipos, alumnus of the Advanced LL.M. in Air and Space Law. This book comprehensively explores the complex regulatory framework governing international aviation law, through both its public and private dimensions. It covers topics such as state sovereignty, ICAO governance and carrier liability evolution from the 1929 Warsaw Convention to the 1999 Montreal Convention.
Both authors briefly presented their publications, highlighting key themes and developments in their respective fields. The presentations were followed by an engaging Q&A session moderated by Tuvana Aras and Dimitra Stefoudi, which provided attendees with deeper insights into the contemporary challenges facing air and space law.
