Film by CADS alumna Loes Moree screened at Field Recordings in Rotterdam
The film MعLMIN made by Visual Ethnography alumna Loes Moree will be screened during the fourth Fieldrecordings event. Field Recordings is an annual event for visual anthropology, sound art and landscape film. This year's edition features slow films, and radical self-portraits on 11, 12 and 13 November in WORM in Rotterdam.
Loes Moree will present her film on Saturday 12 November. After the screening Visual Anthropologist Dr. Lana Askari joins to moderate a Q&A with Loes. In her film, MعLMIN Loes follows the home environments of six young men. Some have spent their entire lives in Amsterdam, while others have fled war-torn Syria. When these six men move into the same housing unit, their paths cross. Fear of 'the other' gradually gives way to brotherhood. MLMIN is an intimate portrait of belonging, nostalgia, and shyness that combines ethnographic sensibility and filmmaking.
Field Recordings
Field Recordings is an annual event that started in 2018. One of the initiators of the event is Sander Hölsgens, lecturer Cultural Anthropology at the Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology. Together with Tim Leyendekker he organized and curated this year’s edition.
