New collaboration project will make the VOC archive of Kerala more accessible

With financial support from the Dutch National Archives, the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, as well as the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a new collaboration project will be launched between India and the Netherlands in 2021.

The Cosmos Malabaricus programme will run for 7 years and will make the unique VOC archive pertaining to the Indian state of Kerala more accessible to a wider audience.

To make this possible, six Indian students will complete an MA History in Leiden, after which they will be employed at the Kerala Council for Historical Research, which will also host Leiden student interns.

Cosmos Malabaricus is a local successor to the previous three programmes TANAP, ENCOMPASS and COSMOPOLIS and is led by Jos Gommans.
