ICCT-Leiden University’s Online Summer Programme on Violent Extremism
Over thirty international professionals participated in ICCT-Leiden University’s Online Summer Programme on Violent Extremism last August. Our Advanced Summer Programme would normally welcome participants to The Hague, combining lectures with field visits. A leaner and online programme was developed and held over the summer, due to Covid-19.
A diverse group of people working for the UN, government, academia and NGOs attended our programme. With participants from countries as far apart as Canada and South Korea, some committed to quite staggered time schedules to participate. Despite a short and rare power outage in centre of The Hague, the programme was successfully concluded.
Participants about the programme:
"The knowledge of the lecturers is excellent, with the programme being facilitated very professionally. The diverse nature of the participants leads to a valuable insight into violent extremism from a global perspective.”
“Attendance on this programme provides networking opportunities via Leiden University and the International Centre for Counter Terrorism, together with the other participants for many years to come. Highly recommended."
“The varied experience and interests of the participants was excellent resulting in several thought provoking discussions.”
