Yiya Chen has been appointed to Professor of Phonetics
Yiya Chen has been appointed professor of Phonetics at Leiden University as of March 1, 2020.
Yiya Chen is a renowned phonetician who conducts cross-linguistic research into tonal languages. She uses various research techniques, including advanced eye-tracking. In 2019, Chen received a prestigious Vici research grant for her project proposal "Melody in Speech". In addition to her research, she teaches BA and MA linguistics and supervises PhD students.
