Laura Heitman has received the 2018 EFMC (European Federation for Medicinal Chemistry) prize for a Young Medicinal Chemist in Academia. The EFMC Prizes Ceremony took place during the XXV EFMC International Symposium on Medicinal Chemistry (EFMC-ISMC 2018), on September 2-6, 2018 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

She also won the 2017 RSC MedChemComm prize, which was handed out during the EFMC-ISMC 2018 symposium as well.
