Frontiers of Children’s Rights in the Caribbean Region Spring School: Open for Applications

The Department of Child Law and the Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies of Leiden University are now accepting applications for the Frontiers of Children’s Rights in the Caribbean Region Spring School.

The Frontiers of Children's Rights in the Caribbean Region Spring School will take place from 5 to 9 March 2018 at the School of Law of the University of Curaçao and reaches out to the Caribbean region as a whole. The English taught programme is aimed at professionals, researchers, and advanced law students with a keen interest in international children’s rights.

This special regional edition of the Leiden-based Frontiers of Children's Rights Summer School is organized in close cooperation with the School of Law of the University of Curaçao. A previous regional edition was organized in the ASEAN Region (Jakarta) in January 2017.

The Spring School enables participants to engage with international children’s rights and topical regional issues affecting children, families and communities, such as child migration and trafficking, and the impact of recent natural disasters. This course offers a unique opportunity to learn from established academics and leading practitioners in the field of children's rights. Apart from lectures, the course includes workshops and educational visits, such as a visit to a centre for teenage mothers and to the coastguard, and plenty of opportunities to network with practitioners and researchers from the region.

The deadline for application is 1 February 2018. Applicants will be admitted on a rolling basis. Early application is strongly encouraged as places are limited. The tuition fee is €950. An Early Bird fee of €800 is offered to participants who register by 15 December 2017.
