"Doing Business in China’’: Leiden University Visit to China and Cooperation in Relation to Children’s Rights

In early January, Joanne van der Leun (Dean of the Leiden Law School), Ton Liefaard (Program Director of the Advanced Studies in International Children’s Rights, LL.M), and Anette van Sandwijk (Head Bureau International Education) visited China.

The objective of the visit was to meet colleagues, further intensify the existing academic collaboration between Leiden University and China, and explore the many developments in Chinese legal education.

The visit included a meeting with four of Leiden’s Law School’s partner universities: Tsinghua University, China University of Political Science and Law, Peking University and Renmin University. Focusing on the field of child law and children’s rights, the group also visited UNICEF China and Beijing Children’s Legal Aid and Research Center.

The visit was a successful and inspiring experience, and it resulted in concrete steps and measures to further develop the cooperation between the parties in the future, including in the field of children’s rights.
