Humanities launches collaboration with Sholokhov University

On Wednesday 4 December the vice-rector of the Sholokhov Moscow State University for the Humanities and the director of its Russian Institute of Advanced Studies visited Leiden University. The delegation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with dean Wim van den Doel to further collaboration in the fields of student exchange and scholarship.

The Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, professor Wim van der Doel, and Vice Rector Dr. Dennis Yarygin of Sholokhov Moscow State University for the Humanities signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in the areas of student exchange and research collaboration. The two Russian delegates, Dr. Dennis Yarygin and Mr. Rustem Gibadulin came to Leiden to discuss areas of potential cooperation between Sholokhov University and Leiden University in the future, under this new MOU.

In addition to meeting professor Wim van den Doel, the delegation also met with representatives from the International Studies and Russian Studies programmes, and were given a tour of the faculty and the academy building. The contact with Sholokhov was initiated by BA International Studies programme professor Richard Griffiths. The International Studies programme is particularly pleased to have signed an agreement for the exchange of students between the two institutions.
