Leiden Professor Cees van den Hondel appointed ‘Officier in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau’
Cees van den Hondel, IBL-professor and 2010 Programme director of the Fungus programme of the Kluyver Centre received the royal distinction "'Officier in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau' " on March 31 at the day of his his retirement in Noordwijkerhout.
Van den Hondel received this award from the Mayor of Noordwijkerhout during the European Conference on Fungal Genetics, which he co-organized.
Spin-off ‘Hitexacoat’
Van den Hondel has worked as Programme director of the Fungus Programme since the creation of the Kluyver Centre in 2002 and founded the spin-out Hitexacoat, that became part of the Industrial Platform in 2009. After his retirement, Hondel will remain active as CEO of Hitexacoat and he will continue teaching.
