The VVI courses form part of the wider teaching programme of the Leiden Law School, which offers programmes both at the undergraduate (LLB) and graduate level (LLM, Advanced Studies, PhD). The Institute offers a MSc programme Law and Society: Governance and Global Development which is unique in Europe. The Institute also offers thematic and regional undergraduate and graduate courses that attract both Dutch and overseas students and offers the minor Law, Culture and Development (30 ECTS).

Next to the regular teaching in Leiden, the VVI  contributes to the teaching programme of Leiden University College The Hague, an international honours college offering a liberal arts and sciences programme at the undergraduate level.

Lastly, the Institute offers tailor-made professional courses on law and development for academics and practitioners, in Leiden and on locations abroad.
