Visiting Professorship 2018/2019
Marie-Agnes Dittrich is Professor for Music Analysis at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (for students of Conducting, Composition or Music Theory from Columbia to North Korea). She studied History and Musicology at Hamburg University, with a PhD dissertation on Harmony and Text Setting in Schubert’s Lieder. She has also taught at the Conservatory of Hamburg, at the Vienna Program of the Midwest Consortium for Study Abroad und Northwest Council for Study Abroad (USA) in Vienna, at the University of Vienna, at the Danube-University in Krems, as an Erasmus Exchange teacher (mainly in Bergen, Norway) and at Leiden University (Leerstoel voor Middeneuropese Studiën met zwaartepunt Oostenrijk), 2014 and 2019.
In the second semester (February – May 2019) she will teach two courses:
- A Bachelor-Lecture: “Classical” Music and Society (17th-20th century) – an Introduction.
- A Master Research-seminar: Music, Politics and History (1848-2018).
