Apply for research grants at LUCAS
The Leiden University Centre for the Arts in Society (LUCAS) welcomes applications for externally funded research grants – for example those offered by the ERC and the Dutch Research Council (NWO) – from highly talented and ambitious candidates.
If you are interested in applying for a research grant, please contact LUCAS’ Research Support Officer Chris Flinterman at oz-lucas@hum.leidenuniv.nl as early as possible, and at least three months before the submission deadline to discuss the possibilities.
In addition to your research idea, please send us your CV, as well as a one-pager in which you explain how your project will contribute to LUCAS research, and what researchers or research groups at LUCAS you would like to collaborate with. We encourage you to seek support and feedback from LUCAS researchers before emailing us your research idea.
Please note that all grant applications are evaluated by the management team based on their alignment with the institute and its research agenda, the feasibility of the proposed project and the qualifications of the applicant, as well as financial considerations (specifically, the grant must fully cover the applicant’s salary costs)
Applications for the Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship are only taken into consideration if a LUCAS researcher has confirmed their support for the application and is willing to act as supervisor. We are unfortunately not able to host external applications for the NWO VIDI scheme.
Before sending us your research idea, please carefully read all practical information on the grant scheme you intend to apply for: ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria for the call, and familiarize yourself thoroughly with all details about the application procedure, including the application form.
