This workshop, co-organized by the Institute for History and Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology (CADS), is aimed at junior social science and humanities scholars who are at various stages of converting their dissertation manuscript into a book. Whether you are at the later stage of your PhD and are curious about book publishing, almost done with your dissertation and trying to navigate the publishing landscape, or a new professor shopping around for presses to get in touch with, we have designed this workshop to accommodate a wide range of participants.
We have organized 3 panels featuring academics who have published in various local and international academic presses, popular presses, and those with experience publishing and promoting their research in non-traditional forms and platforms. There will be editors from local academic presses so there will be plenty of opportunities to ask your questions about publishing a book.
Additionally, there will be a book proposal workshop aimed to offer peer feedback for those who are working on a book proposal. This will offer us an opportunity to discuss each other’s work and get invaluable feedback. Timeline for participants:
27th April: Submission of 5-page proposal
1st May: Assigned pairing for peer feedback
20th May: To upload finished feedback
27th May: Book proposal workshop session
This workshop is designed for a max of 10 participants.
