Professor Barbiers investigates the relation between the geographic distribution of (morpho-)syntactic variables and syntax as a mental system. He works with the large systematically collected dialect data sets and search and cartographic tools that are online available in DynaSAND, MIMORE and Edisyn. In this talk, he will be telling us more about working in the field of dialect syntax (as the workshops so far have been focusing on sounds), e.g. how data were collected, theories in dialect syntax as well as tips on conducting dialect syntactic research (stay tuned for more info).
