Extracurricular activities are a key component of this master's programme.

Master Honours Education

Are you a curious and motivated master’s student? Leiden University's Honours Academy offers various kinds of extracurricular education, ranging from long-running programmes to short-term courses.

During this programme, you will have the opportunity to participate in a number of extracurricular activities organised to enhance your studies, including:

  • A study trip for International Financial Law students to selected financial market players. On previous student trips, we visited the European Central Bank, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA), the Single Resolution Board, the European Banking Federation, international law firms such as Jones Day, Ashurst and Clifford Chance, BNP Paribas and Deutsche Börse and the major European Stock Exchange in Frankfurt.
  • FINSTAS, the study association run for and by Leiden University’s financial law students. Membership is open to both international and Dutch students. Members of this assocation can participate in all of the extra-curricular network events organised by FINSTAS.
  • In addition, students may participate in a negotiation game organised by the Hazelhoff Centre for Financial Law. This game simulates the negotiation of a financial transaction and is facilitated by lawyers who work on such transactions in their daily legal practice. By participating in such game, students can practice with situations and arguments which they are likely to experience in their professional career.
